San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is scheduled to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in New York City on Friday to discuss his suspension.
Smith is facing a significant suspension for his off-field issues including gun charges, a DUI charge and an arrest for an alleged fake bomb threat.
The 24-year-old insists that he has been sober since the start of September after battling substance abuse, and it is understood that his efforts to correct his behaviour will be taken into consideration.
Goodell is also expected to meet with former Dallas Cowboys tackle Josh Brent while Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon will also have his appeal heard later this week.
