Former British Olympian Lawrence Okoye has been released by the San Francisco 49ers as part of their roster cutdown.
The 23-year-old joined the 49ers ahead of the 2013 season as an undrafted free agent, but sustained an injury during pre-season and was placed on the club's injured reserve list.
Okoye went through training camp with the NFC West side before the 2014 campaign, and although he was released, he was re-signed and spent the season on the practice squad.
The defensive end has once again been cut by the club as part of their roster cutdown ahead of the 2015 season, but still has eligibility to qualify for a place on the practice squad.
Okoye made four tackles for the 49ers in their three pre-season matches this month.
