Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has revealed that defensive end Chris Clemons is making "great progress" in his recovery from injury.

Clemons tore his ACL in a playoff match against the Washington Redskins last season and underwent surgery on the problem during the off-season, leaving his participation in the early stages of the upcoming campaign in doubt.

The 31-year-old is unlikely to be ready to face the Carolina Panthers in his side's regular season opener on September 8, but Carroll insisted that a final decision on his availability is yet to be made.

"He's making great progress. We have a big decision to make there," Carroll is quoted as saying by ESPN.

The Seahawks have won all three of their pre-season matches so far and face the Oakland Raiders in the final warm-up game on Thursday.
