St Louis Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin has admitted that he struggled to understand the team's playbook during his rookie season last year.
Austin suffered from bouts of inconsistency during his first league campaign, going from not registering a touch in one game to recording a 310-yard, three-touchdown performance in the next.
With Brian Schottenheimer still in charge of the Rams offence, Austin has stated that he now has the playbook nailed down as he bids to make a bigger impact in the field.
He told The Associated Press: "Last year, I didn't really know what was going on. Everything looked like Spanish and sounded like Spanish to me.
"Now I understand the plays, the depth, the routes, the splits and everything. I just feel good that I can make some plays. Definitely, the game's slowed down for me."
The 23-year-old recorded 151 rushing yards and 418 receiving yards for the Rams last season.
