St Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley has revealed that he was elated to be back on the field after almost a year on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2015 Draft by the Rams, despite sustaining a torn ACL in his final season with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Gurley has admitted that he was relieved to come through his first hit back on the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and is confident that he will improve as he gets back into a rhythm.
"I knew I was going to be fine after that," Gurley told reporters. "It definitely felt good to just be back out there on the field again.
"It's just the first game. I've got to get in the groove of things.
"I feel like I've still got the explosiveness. I definitely didn't get to show it today but like I said, we'll pick back up on things and try to get things rolling next week."
Gurley ran for nine yards on six carries in his side's defeat to the Steelers.
