Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown is expected to miss the clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday with a thumb injury.
Coach Lovie Smith will turn to Mike Glennon in his absence, but it is unclear as to how long McCown will be ruled out for as surgery has been suggested as a possibility to repair a right thumb ligament.
Although McCown has yet to be officially ruled out of Sunday's game, he will still miss multiple games even if the injury doesn't require surgery, NFL.com reports.
Mike Kafka could reportedly be promoted from the practice squad to act as backup for Glennon against Pittsburgh, while the Buccaneers also worked out Terrelle Pryor on Monday.
However, it is not expected that the Tampa Bay management will take a decision on signings until the length of McCown's absence is known.
