Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has admitted that he "didn't expect" to be hit hard by his teammate Derrick Johnson during last night's Pro Bowl.
Johnson was named as the game's defensive MVP for Team Rice, with one of his most notable moments coming when he put in a big hit on Charles, who was playing for Team Sanders.
Charles has refused to get angry at his teammate, however, claiming that the linebacker was simply playing the game and that he should have been ready for such a hit.
"I didn't expect it, but he's out there doing his thing. I can't get mad at him - it's just about football and you've just got to be ready," Charles told The AP.
Jerry Rice's team went on to win the game 22-21 over Deion Sanders's side in one of the most competitive Pro Bowl matches in years.
