Tennessee Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner has revealed that the New England Patriots are interested in signing him during free agency.
The 25-year-old is out of contract when the league year begins on Tuesday, and he has admitted that Patriots safety Devin McCourty has urged his side to sign him.
"[The Patriots are] definitely a possibility," Verner told Mad Dog Sports Radio. "Jason [McCourty's] brother has been lobbying for me.
"I would feel more obliged to go to a team that paid me $6m or $7m and made me one of the highest-paid players on the team, than go to a team that paid me $8m or $9m and I wasn't one of the highest-paid players on the team."
Verner recorded 57 tackles and five interceptions in the 2013 campaign.
