The Washington Redskins will reportedly hold an interview with San Francisco 49ers defensive co-ordinator Vic Fangio.
Fangio is understood to be available to move after the 49ers opted to promote defensive line coach Jim Tomsula to become their new head coach, NFL.com reports.
The Redskins had been set to hire San Diego Chargers linebackers coach Joe Barry to become their new defensive co-ordinator, but they have now stalled on talks in order to meet Fangio.
Fangio guided the San Francisco defense to a top-five ranking in the NFL in each year that he was in charge and he had hoped to land the head coach job following John Harbaugh's departure.
It is reported that Fangio will be a favourite for the role given that he has previously worked with Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan.
