Australia's Olympic champion Sally Pearson could withdraw from the women's 100m at the Commonwealth Games due to concerns over a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old has admitted that she is "likely" to pull out of the sprint to focus on the 100m hurdles, in which she won gold at the London 2012 Olympics.

Pearson will have to make her decision by Saturday, with the 100m heats scheduled to start on Monday. The final of the hurdles event, for which she is the defending champion, is not until the penultimate day of the Games.

She told a press conference: "The latest I can pull out is 48 hours, and right now it is more likely I am going to. I've had a few discussions with my coach and we're really at the stage where I can't do two events."

Pearson is also a former world champion over the 100m hurdles, having triumphed at Daegu 2011.
