Australia's Brandon Starc has praised the track at the Bird's Nest in Beijing after securing a personal best in the men's high jump qualification round at the World Athletics Championships this morning.
Starc cleared 2.31m to clinch a spot in Sunday's final.
"The track out there is phenomenal, one of the best that I have ever jumped on," The Age quotes Starc as saying. "The crowd was loud. The conditions were warm and I felt great in my warm-up.
"My run up wasn't quite there for the early jumps, but at 2.31m it was spot on. I had some room to move and jumped quite well."
Great Britain's Robbie Grabarz failed to reach the final after three successive failures.
