Dominik Hufnagl has revealed his disappointment after Austria were beaten to team gold in the athletics by Slovakia at the European Games.
Austria looked on course for gold before the men's 4x400m team dropped the baton to allow Slovakia to finish 0.5 points ahead of them in the overall standings.
"We're kind of sad because we are second overall. Since three or four hours ago we thought we can win this easily - now we are all sad," he told reporters.
"It was our goal to be promoted, but we just expected a gold medal, that's what it's all about.
"I was feeling dizzy. I just saw it on the television. The baton fell on the floor and our second runner had to run back and pick it up and lost five seconds or so."
Despite missing out on gold, a second-place finish has ensured that Austria will compete in the Second League of the 2017 European Team Championships.
