England runner Christine Ohuruogu insists that the team were not scared of the Jamaicans in today's 4x400m relay final, despite their dominance of the individual event.

Team England runner Christine Ohuruogu has insisted that she is not "scared" of the Jamaicans following their victory in the 4x400m final at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

Jamaica powered to the gold medal at Hampden Park in a new Games record time of 3:23.82, while England took bronze with a time of 3:27.24.

The Jamaicans also dominated the individual event with a clean sweep of the medals, but Ohuruogu insists that England were not intimidated by their fearsome record on the track.

"It was good, it was a lot of fun, we knew it was going to be tough today - Jamaica one-two-three in the final - that always makes us a little bit anxious, but it doesn't matter, we always turn up with the right attitude, the right approach to work," she told Sports Mole.

"As long as we know we've done our best we can go home happy. We expected to run with the Jamaicans - that's how it is. We won a bronze medal last year at the World Championships, so we know we can do it.

"It's just being in the mix and just as much as we're concerned about them, they're concerned about us and that's a good thing. They were running scared as well, so we're not scared of them."

Nigeria completed the podium in the women's 4x400m final, picking up the silver medal.
