Tiffany Porter: 'More to come'

Team England's Tiffany Porter tells Sports Mole that there is more to come from her, having progressed into the final of the 100m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games.

Team England's Tiffany Porter has insisted that there is still plenty more to come from her after she cruised into the final of the 100m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games this evening.

The 26-year-old finished well clear of the rest of the pack in round one at Hampden Park, booking her spot in tomorrow night's medal race with a time of 12.84s.

She qualified as the second fastest overall, and shortly after her race she spoke to Sports Mole about what she made of her performance and her chances of finishing on the podium.

That was fairly comfortable for you Tiffany!

"Yeah, it's all about advancing to the next round, qualifying for the final, so I'm happy I was able to do that today."

So was that just a case of getting the job done while using as little energy as possible?

"Absolutely. For me the most nerve-wracking round is the first round because your last competition may have been a couple of weeks prior, and you're just really anxious watching everybody compete.

"So now that one is out of the way I'm really just happy and looking forward to tomorrow."

Did you feel good out there?

"Yeah, I did feel good. The atmosphere was amazing, the crowd was electric, you really couldn't ask for anything more than that."

You were there for the London Olympics in 2012. Is this atmosphere reminiscent of that?

"Absolutely. For me, I'm going into it healthy so I'm really looking forward to competing tomorrow and I'm really excited."

What sort of percentage would you say you were performing at out there?

"It's hard to say because the hurdles are a little bit different from the sprints. We can't really ease up too much because it's a rhythm event and you run the risk of hitting hurdles or falling if you ease up too much. Obviously I wasn't giving 100% but I was running hard enough."

So there is still more to come for the final?

"Absolutely."

The women's 100m hurdles final is scheduled to take place at 10.10pm at Hampden Park tomorrow night.
