Andy Turner tells Sports Mole that he is "devastated" by his early exit from the Commonwealth Games, having crashed out of the 110m hurdle heats.

Andy Turner has admitted that he is "devastated" after failing to progress past the first round of the 110m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games.

After hitting the first hurdle firmly, the defending champion lost his balance and was forced to abandon his bid to reach the final, but he refused to make any excuses for his form.

"I'm devastated. I got too close to the first hurdle and hit it. Trying to come back from that, it's difficult. I hit the second one and that's it. I'm the one to blame, it's my fault," he told Sports Mole.

"Training had gone really well so maybe I tried to push too hard, who knows, but I made a crucial mistake at the first hurdle and that cost me even finishing the race. I felt really good. Training all week has gone really well, so I was confident I could come here and at least make the final.

"Off the back of the Anniversary Games, I expected to come here and do better than I have done for a start, so I'm disappointed."

Turner's England teammates Will Sharman and Lawrence Clarke will both compete in Tuesday night's final.
