James Dasaolu has revealed his delight after winning gold in the men's 100m final at the European Championships this evening.
The 26-year-old claimed victory in Zurich by running a time of 10.06s, which was the joint third-fastest winning time in the competition's history.
"It's great to be the European champion," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "I'm still trying to take it all in.
"I didn't have a great start but I battled through. Track and field always has lots of ups and downs - I've had my hamstring injury but fast forward to Zurich in August and I'm the European champion."
In the final, France's Christophe Lemaitre took silver with a time of 10.13s, while Harry Aikines-Aryeetey took the bronze medal with a time of 10.24s.
