Usain Bolt and the Jamaican press team have insisted that the world's fastest man is enjoying the Commonwealth Games following earlier reports to the contrary.

The six-time Olympic champion was quoted by The Times as saying that the Games in Glasgow are "a bit shit".

Bolt has described the reports as "nonsense" and told reporters that he thinks that they are "awesome" when asked as he and his teammates spectated Jamaica's netball match with New Zealand.

Jamaica's press attache Laurel Smith has stressed that Bolt is enjoying the Games and any negative comments attributed to him may have been because he is frustrated that his "free spirit" is being confined.

Smith told BBC Sport: "Usain is just frustrated that he can't roam about, but it was like that at London 2012. He basically goes to training and comes back.

"You can only play so many video games in your room. He's a free spirit, but it requires security organisation when he wants to roam.

"He even gets a bagman (an assistant) to get his food from the canteen because it would create too much of a stir if he was there. But one thing is for sure, he is enjoying himself in Glasgow."

Bolt, who is the world record holder over 100m and 200m, will compete for Jamaica in the 4x100m relay this weekend.
