Usain Bolt declares that his hamstring injury is "completely gone" as he prepares for a return to racing.

Usain Bolt has insisted that his hamstring injury is "completely gone" as he makes a slow return to competitive action.

The Jamaican sprinter will compete in the 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next week, almost five months since he was sidelined by a hamstring injury.

"The injury is completely gone," the 100m world record holder told reporters today. "Fitness-wise, I've done training over this past month and I'm really pushing myself. I'm not yet in running shape, hence why I'm running the heats [in Glasgow].

"I'm just taking my time and trying not to push myself or I might get injured again. I'm focused on getting a few races in this season."

Asked if he was concerned that he might not be fit for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the 27-year-old replied: "Rio's two years away. I've got the World Championships first and then after I've got through those, I'll worry about Rio."

Bolt will participate in the 4x100m relay heats on Friday night and, should Jamaica qualify, he is expected to participate in the final the following day.
