Usain Bolt has won gold in the 100m for the third successive Olympic Games after another dominant performance in Rio de Janeiro.
The Jamaican sprinter never came close to breaking his own world record but a time of 9.81s was comfortably enough to see off rival Justin Gatlin.
Bolt got off to a slow start as Gatlin reached the halfway stage clear of the field but he was unable to shake off Bolt who closed him down with 20 metres to go.
It was from there that the 29-year-old created distance between himself and Gatlin and he was able to celebrate as he went over the line eight hundredths of a second ahead of the American.
Canada's Andre De Grasse won the bronze medal in 9.91s, with Yohan Blake in fourth in 9.93s.
