Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes is hopeful that she will be presenting a gold medal to a fellow Brit in the 1500m event.
The 42-year-old, who nabbed gold twice in the 800m and 1500m in the 2004 Athens Games, is due to present one of this summer's athletes with the top prize in London.
"I would love to present it in my own country, given that winning that particular race was my dream for 20 years," the Daily Star quotes Holmes as saying.
"It would be an amazing honour because, for me, the Olympics is so special. It has been embedded in my life for so many years.
"That whole dream of being a 1500m champion was always there and just to be able to present the new person in my stadium with the medal would be amazing."
Holmes is a BT ambassador, which has required her to meet the teams competing this summer ahead of the Games.
