The Olympic torch begins its journey through central London today, travelling through the likes of Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square before reaching its final destination at Hyde Park.

The Olympic torch has begun its journey through central London today ahead of tomorrow's opening ceremony to mark the start of London 2012 and end the 70-day relay.

The famous flame was carried by former England Rugby head coach Sir Clive Woodward at 6.48am this morning from the Roundhouse in Camden, before being passed over to comedian David Walliams, who strode passed Islington Town Hall on his way to St Paul's Cathedral at 8.55am.

After the torch was ferried over to the Millenium Bridge at 10.03am, spectators waiting at Shakespeare's Globe and Windrush Square witnessed the torch as it continues its journey to Hyde Park.

The flame is expected to be carried passed Stamford Bridge and Holland Park before reaching Oxford Street at 5.03pm this evening, where it will travel by bus in the hands of the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Angela Harvey.

After travelling down the West End, the torch's final leg of the journey will be from Trafalgar Square to Hyde Park, which will include walks passed Downing Street.

The torch is expected to reach Hyde Park at 7.10pm, which will be followed by the lighting of a cauldron and a concert with performers including The Wanted, Dizzee Rascal, Mark Ronson and Katy B gracing the stage.
