Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has said that she is hopeful of qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport suspended the International Association of Athletics Federations' 'gender test' rules.

The 19-year-old was banned last year for the presence of high levels of testosterone in her system, which made her ineligible to compete under IAAF regulations.

Chand was forced to miss the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games last year, but she has now been cleared to compete in the World Championships in August, although she admits that her main aim is booking a spot in Rio next summer.

"I've been through a lot, but I'm happy with the judgement," Chand told The AP.

"My immediate aim is to qualify for the Rio Olympics, but I also know that age is on my side and I can realize my dream of winning several medals for India.

"The Indian government has helped me a lot in all this, and I hope they back me more and I'm able to practise in the US in the coming months."

Chand is the current Indian champion in the 100m.
