Nick Miller breaks the long-standing British hammer record with a distance of 77.55m at a meeting in Sweden.

Nick Miller has registered a distance of 77.55m to break the British hammer record at a meeting in Sweden.

The previous mark of 77.54m, set by Martin Girvan, had stood for 31 years before Miller narrowly bettered his attempt at the Karlstad GP on Wednesday.

Miller, who won silver at last year's Commonwealth Games, had previously had a personal best of 76.97m.

British compatriot Mark Day finished in sixth place with a distance of 74.26m.
