Jessica Ennis-Hill confirms that she will wait to make a decision on her retirement until after Rio 2016.

World heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has said that she will wait until after the Rio 2016 Olympics before she makes a decision on when she will retire from athletics.

The 29-year-old will defend her Olympic gold medal at next summer's games in Brazil after she won a second world title in August in her first major championships since London 2012.

Though she confirmed that she would consider herself too old to keep going to the next Olympics in 2020, she admitted that she could be persuaded to continue competing until the 2017 World Championships in London.

"I will see how my body holds up," she told BBC Sport. "My focus is on Rio at the moment and they will be my last Olympics as I will definitely be too old by 2020.

"I want to enjoy this next year and make the most of it and make a decision on my future after Rio. I feel so lucky that I can train every day and do a sport that I love and to have had the opportunities and experiences I have had.

"I am so happy with the way that I have come back into my career in athletics. I will be competitive [in Rio] and I do want to do as well as I can possibly do."

Ennis-Hill was named as the winner of the Sunday Times and Sky Sports Sportswoman of the Year award on Friday.
