Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva says that she wants to break her own pole vault world record at the Olympic Games in Rio next summer.

Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva has said that she wants to set a new world record at the Olympic Games next summer.

The 32-year-old hasn't competed since the 2013 World Championships, after taking time off to give birth to her daughter last year.

She announced her retirement shortly after winning the world title, but she has since backtracked on those plans and intends to cement her legacy in Rio.

"I want to include my name in athletics history for a long time," Isinbayeva told Bolshoy Sport. "We'll strive for the next world record if we decide to prepare purposefully for Rio.

"I have a 5.10m jump on my mind but at the same time, I think that 5.15m is the limit for women. I will try to draw nearer this mark and set a world record, which will stay for 100 years."

Isinbayeva has won two Olympic gold medals and three golds at the World Championships in her career.
