Defending champion Elena Isinbaeva was forced to settle for a bronze medal during tonight's pole vault final at the London Olympics.
The 30-year-old, who won gold at the Games in 2004 and 2008, failed in three attempts to clear 4.75m.
That allowed Jennifer Suhr of the United States and Cuba's Yarisley Silva to battle it out for the top prize.
It was the American who eventually emerged victorious when she managed to clear the distance that had eluded both Isinbaeva and Silva.
Reports have suggested that Isinbaeva will now retire from the sport.
