Heptathlon gold medallist Jessica Ennis has revealed that she is unlikely to drop her current event in favour of focusing solely on the 100m hurdles in future.
Ennis, who did not compete in this year's hurdles event, matched Beijing's gold medal-winning 100m hurdles time when she ran 12.54s in the heptathlon but has committed her immediate future to her current specialism.
"I have always said that I would like to give hurdles a go but I didn't want to go and do an event where I am not making semi-finals and finals and not being one of the best in the world," Ennis said.
"It would be hard to go from that level to go back down again.
"I have not won the Commonwealth Games and I think that would be lovely to do, but it is a weird feeling that I cannot imagine not doing the heptathlon.
Ennis's golden postbox was yesterday vandalised in Sheffield.
