Day eight of the Olympic Games promises to be a cracker as star names Usain Bolt and Mo Farah begin their quest for medals on the track.

A bumper weekend of Olympic action lies in store and day eight features a host of Great Britain's finest athletes going for gold.

Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt also makes his long awaited debut at London 2012 in a star-studded day of track and field events.

8.55am - Triathlon

Welsh world champion Helen Jenkins is a strong medal contender in Saturday morning's opening triathlon at Hyde Park. Supported by a host of teammates including Lucy Hall and Vicky Hall and riding a wave of good form, much is expected from Jenkins.

10am - Athletics: Heptathlon and Men's 100m heats

Jessica Ennis will look to build on her overnight lead as the Heptathlon continues throughout the day.

First up is the long jump before the javelin rounds off the morning at 11.45am. Ennis will expect to be in contention for medals entering the final event, the 800m at 8.35pm.

Usain Bolt leads an awesome field including Yohan Blake, Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay into the 100m heats, beginning at 10am

12.10pm - Rowing: Men's lightweight double sculls

Great Britain will hope to continue a fantastic run of medals at Eton Dorney as reigning world and Olympic champions Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter compete in the men's lightweight double sculls final.

2pm - Tennis: Women's singles final

Wimbledon champion Serena Williams faces French Open winner Maria Sharapova in what promises to be a pulsating final of the women's singles.

Andy Murray is also back in action, fresh from beating Novak Djokovic to reach the men's singles final. He partners Laura Robson to face Australian pair Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Stosur in the mixed double's quarter-final.

4.11pm - Track Cycling: Women's team pursuit

Team GB trio Laura Trott, Dani King and Joanna Rowsell will hope to take their world record from qualifying into the team pursuit final. A similar showing will have British eyes smiling on the velodrome once again.

7.45pm - Football: Great Britain vs. South Korea

Stuart Pearce's team play against South Korea at the Millennium Stadium as the men's football tournament reaches the quarter-final stage.

9.15pm - Athletics: Men's 10,000m

All eyes will be on the Olympic Stadium as Mo Farah goes for the first of two medals in the men's 10,000m final.

The world's fastest females also take to the track for the women's 100m final at 9.55pm.
