Great Britain's Goldie Sayers failed to qualify for the final of the women's javelin this morning.
The 30-year-old headed into the Games with some ligament damage in her right elbow.
Despite having the problem taped up, the Newmarket-born athlete grimaced in pain during her opening two throws and opted to foul those efforts.
Her final throw was recorded, but it barely reached 50m, thus ending her London Olympics campaign at the round one stage.
Sayers finished fourth at the Games in Beijing four years ago.
