Great Britain's Mo Farah wins the gold medal in tonight's 10,000m final.

Mo Farah become the first Great British athlete to claim Olympic gold in the men's 10,000m this evening.

The 29-year-old placed himself within the middle of field during the early exchanges of the race.

As the laps went by, Farah began to move through the pack until he hit the front with one lap remaining.

He then proceeded to power down the back straight, holding off the challenge from defending champion Kenenisa Bekele in the process.

Farah extended his lead even further in the closing stages, before crossing the line in a time of 27:30.90.

His training partner, Galen Rupp of the United States, took the silver medal, while Tariku Bekele claimed the bronze gong.

Farah is also expected to compete in the 5,000m later in the Games.
