Kyle Langford to "learn" from Diamond League outing

Kyle Langford stresses that he has "all the time in the world" to "learn" from his outing at the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham.

Great Britain's 800m runner Kyle Langford has insisted that he will "learn" from his experiences at today's Diamond League meeting in Birmingham.

At one stage the Shaftesbury Barnet athlete appeared to be in contention for one of the top spots, but he found himself "boxed in" 400m from home and ended up finishing seventh.

Nevertheless, he was still able to record a season-best time of 1:48.20 and at the age of 19, he has insisted that there is plenty of time for him to improve.

"I felt really good with 400m to go, but then someone cut in front of me and I took a knock. I got boxed in and went backwards," he told Sports Mole.

"Down the back straight I felt really good but that last 100m I just didn't really put it together. I felt it in my legs, but that mentality just to get it going wasn't there. I've got all the time in the world [to improve].

"It's the first 800m I've done against guys like this, so all I can do is learn from it and get ready to race the next race."

The race was won by Botswana's Nijel Amos, while Langford's compatriot Theo Blundell finished ninth.
