Jenny Meadows has told Sports Mole that she is "confident" of claiming gold for Great Britain in next month's European Indoor Athletics Championships in Prague.
The 33-year-old opened up 2015 by winning both of her 800m races, one of which saw her claim the British Indoor Championship crown last weekend.
She carried on that positive form this afternoon in Birmingham, easing to victory at the Sainsbury's Indoor Grand Prix in 2.01.25.
Speaking after her win, Wigan-born Meadows was hopeful that she will be able to mimic recent results in the Czech Republic.
"I surprised myself during my first two races of the year by running so quick. Now I know that I've got the quick times, I can just concentrate on winning the races. It's five out of five so far and hopefully another three races in a fortnight [in Prague]," she said.
"I am confident. I know I can run a quick time and also today was quite good preparation for holding back that little bit and saving myself for the last two races. I've shown myself that I can do it in a few different ways now.
"I loved it today. It was a bit slower than what we had planned, but in the last 200m I felt really strong and didn't really have to push on, even though I could have. I appreciate being in this form because I've missed two seasons and last season, I had a lot of problems still. It wasn't really much fun. I'm appreciating every day that I'm fit and healthy and I'll keep working hard on a daily basis. Hopefully the two will come together."
Meadows claimed silver at the European Indoor Championships in 2011, but was upgraded to gold a year later as a result of Yevgeniya Zinurova's disqualification.
