Greg Rutherford has confirmed that he will not represent Great Britain at the upcoming European Indoor Athletics Championships in Prague.
The 2012 Olympic long jump champion won the British Indoor Championships in Birmingham earlier today with a personal-best indoor leap of 8.17m.
Despite revealing that he is looking to compete in one more indoor event over the coming weeks, the 28-year-old insisted that it will not be in the Czech Republic.
"In terms of Prague, I'd never intended to do it. I'd never set myself the target. I've done one jump session and one weights session in the lead up to today," he told reporters.
"I think I'll do one more indoor competition, [but I'm] not sure exactly which one it will be yet."
With regards to his performance today, Rutherford added: "Taking this as my first competition of the year, things are looking good. If you take my first competition from last year, it was questionable.
"I've been doing a lot faster, more responsive weight training – not necessarily lifting heavier weights. I feel in good shape and that's always good at this point of the year."
Rutherford's compatriot Dan Bramble finished third with a jump of 7.90m.
