Sports Mole discusses what to expect from Sunday's action at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Emily Campbell goes for gold on the final day.

Before a spectacular two weeks of action comes to an end with the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, gold medals in the double digits are still waiting to be claimed, and Great Britain are eyeing some last-gasp runs to glory in the French capital.

The nation failed to add any more golds to their tally on the penultimate day, but Caden Cunningham (taekwondo), Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe (artistic swimming) earned respectable silvers, while 10m platform diver Noah Williams and 1500m runner Georgia Bell both placed third, as did the 4x400m relay teams.

Elsewhere, USA conquered both the men's basketball and women's football competitions, and Ethiopian 32-year-old Tamirat Tola took the men's marathon crown in an Olympic record time.

Here, Sports Mole looks ahead to the must-see events in Paris on August 11, as Team GB seek some final slices of Parisian success.

ATHLETICS

KEY EVENTS

  • Women's Marathon (7am)

  • After Emile Cairess's gutsy fourth-placed finish in Saturday's men's race, Rose Harvey, Calli Hauger-Thackery and Clara Evans are flying the flag high for GB in the women's marathon, where it might take something special to beat Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia.

    WEIGHTLIFTING

    KEY EVENTS

  • Women's +81kg (10.30am)

  • Now a household name thanks to her historic silver in Tokyo - GB's first-ever women's weightlifting Olympic medal - Emily Campbell competes for the women's +81kg title in the morning, although Li Wenwen of China wears the favourites tag.

    MODERN PENTATHLON

    KEY EVENTS

  • Women's Individual Laser Run (11.40am)

  • The women's modern pentathlon concludes with Sunday's finals series, and Kerenza Bryson of GB set a new Olympic record with 1402 points to top her semi-final, while compatriot Kate French finished fifth.

    CYCLING TRACK

    KEY EVENTS

  • Men's Keirin (12.32pm)

  • Women's Sprint Decider (12.44pm)

  • Women's Omnium (12.56pm)

  • A few more medals could be clinched for GB in the velodrome, where Emma Finucane enters the women's sprint as the defending world champion - she faces New Zealand's Ellesse Andrews in her semi-final battle.

Meanwhile, Neah Evans starts at the fence in the women's omnium scratch race, while Hamish Turnbull and Jack Carlin - who is on a warning - are in men's keirin action in separate heats.

    BASKETBALL

    KEY EVENTS

  • Women's Gold Medal Game (2.30pm)

  • The last team final to take place at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the USA and France will battle for women's basketball gold in a repeat of Saturday's men's match, which the Americans won in a thriller. Should the US win, it will mark an astounding eighth straight women's basketball crown, an outright Olympic record in team sports.
