James Dasaolu admits that he is pleased after running the second best 100m time ever by a British sprinter.

James Dasaolu has admitted that he is pleased with his sub-10 second 100m time at the British Championships.

He surprised many people by running 9.91s in his semi-final - the second fastest time ever by a British sprinter.

The 25-year-old pulled out of the final due to injury and wants to concentrate on the World Athletics Championships next month.

"I was so happy when I went 9.91," Dasaolu told reporters. "I finally got that sub-10 clocking and I didn't just dip under 10.

"I knew if conditions okay and if I executed my race I would run a PB (personal best). I think I've run a PB in my last three races, so I'm an athlete on the up.

"I didn't want to let anybody down and was looking forward to taking my first British Championships 100m title. My ultimate aim is to be fit for Moscow and I didn't want to risk injury."

The title was eventually won by Dwain Chambers with a time of 10.04s.
