Jamaican sprinter Kemar Bailey-Cole is forced out of the World Athletics Championships with a hamstring injury.

Jamaican sprinter Kemar Bailey-Cole has been ruled out of this month's World Athletics Championships with a torn hamstring.

The 23-year-old, who was due to race in the 100m and the 4x100m relay in Beijing, picked up the injury at his country's training camp in Japan at the weekend.

He had set a new personal best of 9.92 seconds in the 100m at the Anniversary Games in London last month, which was won by his fellow countryman Usain Bolt.

"It is with bitter emotions that I am announcing that my season has come to an end. I will not be competing at the World Championships," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

"This is so as an ongoing cramp to both hamstrings at the London anniversary games now lead to one of them been torn yesterday in practice.

"Thank you all for your thoughtfulness. Your generosity and support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated."

Bailey-Cole won the 100m final at last year's Commonwealth Games and helped Jamaica to claim gold in the 4×100m relay at the London Olympics and the 2013 World Championships.
