Goldie Sayers was disappointed to come away from the javelin final of the World Athletics Championships without a medal.
The 29-year-old Great British athlete threw 58.18 metres yesterday in Daegu, a distance only good enough for a tenth-place finish.
"I'm absolutely devastated," admitted Sayers afterwards. "I just got way too overexcited. I knew there was a medal there for the taking. Gold and silver are way out there but bronze was there."
Russia's Maria Abakumova claimed the gold medal with a throw of 71.99m, while Czech Republic's Barbora Spotakova and Sunette Viljoen of South Africa took silver and bronze respectively.
