Great Britain's mixed doubles team of Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier lost their final match at the London Olympics to the Chinese pairing of Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei this afternoon.
The British duo struggled to record points on their service games during the opening set. In fact only four of their 13 points came with the shuttlecock in hand.
Zhang and Zhao, who are the current world champions, had no such problems as they took the opening set 21-13.
Team GB dominated the early parts of the second set as they looked to force the match into a decider.
However, China soon gained control of proceedings again and opened up a lead of seven points that proved too much for Adcock and Bankier to bridge. Bankier expressed her frustration towards the line judge, for which she received a yellow card.
Gold medal favourites China eventually wrapped up the victory 21-14.
The loss means that the British pair cannot reach the quarter-final stage of the Games.
