Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery on Monday.
The 25-year-old, who limped out of Saturday's match against the in-form Portland Trail Blazers, had the medial meniscus repaired in his right knee at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
The Bulls have now said that he will not return this season, meaning that it will be another long year for Bulls fans, who were without the 2010-11 MVP all of last campaign because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
Chicago have recorded six wins and six losses to start the 2013-14 campaign. They travel to worst-ranked Utah Jazz later tonight.
