LeBron James has revealed that he was delighted to help Kevin Love commit his future to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 26-year-old was available on the free-agent market after spending the 2014-15 season with David Blatt's men.
However, James has admitted that he spoke with Love about the future of the team, leading to the forward signing a five-year contract worth $110m.
He told reporters: "He wanted to have a sit down with me and talk about everything.
"He wanted to talk about the season, what could happen with the team going forward. I was absolutely open to it.
"I was one of the people that wanted him there when we made the trade last summer. The fact that he committed to us let me know the type of guy we have."
Love averaged 16.4 points per game for the Cavs last season.
