Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has said that he has undergone successful surgery to remove a staph infection in his elbow.
The infection was discovered before the Clippers' 131-108 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder nine days ago, and it was initially suggested that he could miss up to six weeks.
Griffin hasn't put a time frame on how long he will be out for, but he did say that things are going better than expected.
He told NBA.com: "I got some good news. Everything is even on track or looking better than it was. Still don't really know a great timetable, but happy with how it feels."
The 25-year-old averages 22.5 points a game this season.
