The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly asked for permission to speak to Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Alvin Gentry.
The team are beginning the process of appointing a new coach after firing Mike Brown following a disappointing season in the NBA.
The AP reports that Cleveland have asked to speak to Gentry, who has previously held four head coach posts in the league, and are expected to meet with him over the coming days.
Gentry most recently took charge at the Phoenix Suns from 2009 to 2013, but left the side in January last year before taking up a role with the Clippers.
