The Los Angeles Lakers have confirmed that Julius Randle underwent surgery to fix a long-standing foot issue on Tuesday.
Randle will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg during his NBA debut against the Houston Rockets in October, and the Lakers took the opportunity to repair a problem which has bothered the forward since high school.
The 20-year-old needed a screw replaced in the fifth metatarsal of his foot, which he initially got after breaking the foot in the early stages of his senior season at Prestonwood Christian in Texas.
Randle was expected to be picked earlier in the Draft this year, but the foot problem is believed to have seen him fall further down before the Lakers used the seventh pick to recruit him.
