Mike D'Antoni has said that Kobe Bryant has taken "a big step" in practice with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The shooting guard, who has not played since rupturing his Achilles in April, scrimmaged for 30 to 45 minutes during the team's practice yesterday.
The head coach told ESPN: "Today was a good day. We'll see tomorrow how he reacts and everything, but today was a big step forward.
"We don't want to jump the gun. We don't know [if Bryant will play this week]. We'll see if he's able, but like I said, today, it all looks good.
"He's Kobe. Practice is going to be different for him than the game, but he controls the game and I didn't see anything he couldn't do."
The Lakers face the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
