The Miami Heat will be without Udonis Haslem and Greg Oden for their opening pre-season game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday evening.
Oden, the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, is still a long way short of match fitness after spending the entire of last season working on his injury problems.
The 25-year-old agreed a one-year contract with the Heat in the summer but the franchise have yet to set a date for his return to the court.
Haslem is still recovering from the surgery he underwent this summer on a torn meniscus, despite taking part in some of Miami's training camp.
