The Miami Heat continue their impressive form in the Southeast Division, but Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers lose again.

The Miami Heat have continued their recent good form of late by recording a 117-94 victory over the Utah Jazz at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Despite trailing 50-47 at half time, the Heat turned on the style in the fourth quarter to win the game, with forward LeBron James scoring a game-high 30 points, nine assists and nine rebounds.

The hosts also had guard Dwyane Wade to thank. He finished with 27 points on 9-for-14 shooting, while center Chris Bosh added 20 points and six rebounds, as the Heat took their record to 18-6 for the season.

Over at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, the Atlanta Hawks piled on the misery against Los Angeles Lakers, as returning forward Kobe Bryant was denied another victory, with his side losing 114-110.

The Lakers had been in control at one point in the contest, but the Hawks overturned a nine-point third-quarter deficit to win the game, as every Atlanta starter scored at least 13 points for their side.

The in-form San Antonio Spurs were brought back down to earth on Monday following a 115-92 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 23-point win was the LA side's largest margin of victory over San Antonio in club history, with Blake Griffin and Chris Paul combining for 50 points.

Griffin ended up finishing with 27 points and nine rebounds, while the equally impressive Paul notched 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

The Chicago Bulls slumped to their first-ever four-game home slide as they were narrowly beaten by the Orlando Magic 83-82 at the United Centre.

The hosts were undone by good work from Arron Afflalo, who scored 23 points with eight rebounds, with other contributions coming from Glen Davis and Jameer Nelson.

One positive the Bulls would have taken from the game was the improved performance of Luol Deng, returning in his second game since injury, with the player grabbing a game-high 26 points for his side.

Elsewhere in Indianapolis, the Detroit Pistons overcame their disappointing result on Monday with a 101-96 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Josh Smith was an outstanding performer for the visitors having scored 30 points and seven rebounds on the night, taking his average for the past two nights to 30.5 points and 23 shots.

There were extraordinary scenes in New York as Bradley Beal scored a final-seconds layup in order to give the Washington Wizards a 102-101 victory over the New York Knicks.

Beal was able to dart past Beno Udrih for a go-ahead layup with 6.9 seconds left, which saw his score for the night go to 21 points, with 14 of them coming in the final quarter of the encounter.

The match-winner's display was backed up by Martell Webster, who went for 30 points, including 6-for-8 from the arc, with John Wall also adding 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Across the city at the Barclay Centre, the Brooklyn Nets surged to an emphatic 130-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, with Joe Johnson hitting a career-high 10 three-pointers in the contest.

Johnson collected 37 points overall and also tied a previous NBA record for scoring eight three-pointers in a single quarter.

The game's highest scorer was partnered impressively by Deron Williams, who produced a season-high 13 assists for his team.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were unable to continue from their winning run on Monday as they lost 101-97 to the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden.

The Celtics were thankful for an outstanding showing from Jared Sullinger, who scored 15 of his team-high 24 points in the final quarter to help propel his side to victory.
