New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has revealed that his confidence in the franchise convinced him to sign a record five-year contract extension with the club.
The 22-year-old penned the most expensive deal in the history of the NBA when he committed his future to the Pelicans earlier this month, a contract which is reported to be worth $145m (£93m) over five years.
Davis has admitted that the decision to hire Alvin Gentry was key to him signing the lucrative deal.
"I just felt comfortable here. I like the team. I like the direction that we're heading in. I like the guys who are playing by my side," Davis told reporters. "I have a lot of trust in our organisation and what they're doing."
Davis has been named an NBA All-Star twice in his career.
