Lance Thomas has described re-signing for the New Orleans Pelicans as a "blessing".
The forward, who first joined the team in 2011, was waived in July but agreed a new contract with the team last month.
The 25-year-old told the team's website: "When [being waived] happened, it was a little discouraging, but at the end of the day, I'm playing a game that I love to play.
"I can't complain. Not many people wake up every day living their dream job. So I'm just really blessed and I'm very happy to be back here. I feel like this is where I belong. I love the city and I love the organisation. For me to be here is a blessing.
"I wasn't too aware of the details, but it's not going to change my approach regardless. Even if that didn't happen, my level of intensity was still going to be the same. I only know one way to work, and that's hard."
Thomas has also had spells with the Austin Toros in the NBA D-League.
