The New York Knicks have been dealt a blow in their preparations for the new season with the news that Kenyon Martin is doubtful for the opening game of the season.
Martin has not yet appeared for the Knicks in any of their pre-season games as he continues to struggle with an ankle injury he sustained in April.
Amar'e Stoudemire is also expected to miss the start of the season due to a knee injury, meaning the Knicks could be forced to rely on Josh Powell, Cole Aldrich or Ike Diogu as a bigger physical presence.
New York coach Mike Woodson has not confirmed when he expects Martin to be ready to return to the court.
The 35-year-old has been taking part in some training during pre-season.
