The Leicester Riders' spate of dominance in the British Basketball League continued as they won their second successive league title with victory over the Plymouth City Patriots on Wednesday.
Rob Paternostro's side secured a 77-60 victory over the Patriots to complete a league and cup double for the 2021-22 season, during which they have lost just twice in the division.
The Riders clinched back-to-back league titles after closest challengers the London Lions suffered a 78-74 loss to the Bristol Flyers, and Paternostro revelled in collecting his 16th title with the Leicester outfit.
"No matter how many titles you get, it's always a great feeling. The league title is special though," Paternostro said after Wednesday's win, as quoted by BBC Sport.
"You can't get lucky. It's about playing with the full league season and coming out on top, so it's a different feeling when you win the league. It definitely means more to me."
The Riders' first game as 2022 champions takes place against the Manchester Giants tomorrow, and they have now clinched six BBL league titles since 2013. body check tags ::
